Dear KFI 640AM Los Angeles -

If your on-air host doesn't know who Gore Vidal was, maybe it would make sense not to have that host talk about the person he has no knowledge about. It might make sense for the news department to research and talk about Gore Vidal rather than have a host talk off the cuff about a deseased person he has no information about. To have your host, Tim Conway, Jr use a Wikipedia search on air to find out about the man, have the same host ask other reporters on the air who he is (and who apparently had no idea who he was) and then to have the same host, after reading a quote from Vidal, call the man an a-hole on air and say good riddance about him dying is insensitive, and that is the most charitable term I can use to describe what I heard on-air.

Does KFI have any shame or feel any responsibility for the actions of their on air entertainers? It is one thing to have Tim Conway Jr. have his weekly What Did Jesse Jackson Say idiocy. I may disagree with the antics that Tim Conway Jr does with this but Jesse Jackson is alive and if he wishes I'm sure he can defend himself through words and deeds. Gore Vidal is dead and since I don't know of any heinous crime he has committed, I'm not sure why Tim Conway Jr would feel the need, especially after reading one quote from him, feel the recently deceased person deserved such an on-air chastisement. Tim Conway showed more compassion for the trainer of a race horse who was suspected of doping horses than he did for Gore Vidal and that is reprehensible.

It is sad that a million listeners will hear the vile comments of the bitter talk show host Tim Conway Jr and from that will form an opinion of a man many of them have no idea of who he is. It is even sadder that the comments were made upon Gore Vidal's death and was made when the information was not verified by news sources but by twitter comments. It is disrespectful to see such conduct from a news outlet.
