I have seen odd videos. People that know me know I know odd videos. Look at Buffalo by Stump , Dog Police or Nemesis by Shriekback and you will see some pretty out there videos. As much as those videos skirt the oddity line there is some inherit skill going on, from what I can see. It may be fun, playful or insightful but there is something there where you go, OK, this might be junk to me but I kind of get where you’re going.

Lady GaGa, what are you trying to do? See the full 9 minute plus NSFW video

Over nine minutes I will not get back and I have no idea what you were trying to tell me. Give me a sign, please. Post some Cliff Notes are something. I sat through that video for Telephone and I had a jaw dropping look on my face. Look, I get the Madonna thing. Every female star since Madonna has tried to do Madonna, but just like Lloyd Bensen would have said, you aren’t Madonna.

Now, don’t take that as a slight against you. Your music is catch, I’ll grant you that, but it seems you’re going for shock value to have shock value. The video was a mash up of a lot of different movie themes, product placements and, something I thought was just too blatant at the beginning, a jab in the psychic eye of people who had questions about your sex.

Did we have to see a crotch shot with you on the jail house bars to prove to the skeptics you’re not a hermaphrodite? I can see where there is talent in the music but it’s overshadowed by the attention grabbing, shove it in conservative faces, and want to be cool with the weird crowd stunts of this video. My confusion has to do with the wannabe outsider antics contrasted with product placements for Virgin Mobile and other products which are supporting your tour or that you are a spokesperson for. It is tough to have controversy and corporate sponsorship. Just look at your idol Madonna and what happened to her Pepsi deal with burning crosses, a black Jesus and her kissing black Jesus.

I will say this was an interesting mess of a video, but it was a mess.
