I’m going to give the conspiracy theory folks a break, a little break, but I have to wonder, with a straight face, they can justify this. Senator Ted Cruz announced he was running for President of the United States. On the surface, there doesn’t seem to be a problem but there is a big one. With this problem, the fact is undeniable. The Senator, and his paperwork, confirms the fact. People like Donald Trump haven’t said a word about the controversy.

Senator Ted Cruz was born in Canada. It is on his birth certificate. He has stated he was born in Canada. Considering the drama we have gone over since Obama ran for President, how in the world can Cruz run for President and how can the right, especially the conspiracy right, be so silent in this obvious breech in their own established agenda? The kicker is, there are those who said Ted Cruz doesn’t fall into the same controversy as Obama because Ted Cruz’s mother was American. Excuse me, Barack Obama’s mother was born in America. She was from Kansas. Captain James T. Kirk was born in Kansas! You can’t get more American than Kansas.

Oh, while we’re on the subject, when John McCain ran in 2000 a question that came up was his citizenship. Remember, in the 2000 Presidential run there was no Obama. I bring that up because McCain was born in Panama to an American mother. His parents was stationed in Panama. The issue of McCain’s citizenship was a blip on the political radar at the time. In 2008, the question came up again, for obvious reasons. While questions of Obama’s place of birth reached legendary status that remains to this day, the questions about McCain’s birthplace barely lasted a week.

I said I was giving the conspiracy people a small break on the silence on Ted Cruz birth certificate, but it isn’t a good break. Let’s be honest; because the views of Ted Cruz aligns with those on the right and the far right, they are willing to use tenuous information to legitimize his candidacy and, if he is lucky enough to get nominated as the Republican candidate, his Presidency. In the case of the ‘legitimacy’ of the Obama Presidency, the conspiracy theory is that Obama’s birth certificate, the announcement of his birth in two local newspapers, and his mother being a United States citizen doesn’t matter. They will jump through as many improbable hoops as possible to explain how Obama wasn’t born in the United States and isn’t a citizen.

Consistency has to be a priority conspiracy people. You want us to accept your flawed and biased evidence on why Obama isn’t a natural born citizen yet you have a candidate who undeniably was born in another country and the arguments used to justify his run for Presidency works for Obama. I’m not going to claim your obvious dislike for Obama is based on is black skin, but the obsession on natural born citizenship with Obama and lack of discussion about Cruz seems odd. Oh, and before someone walks down the obvious trap and claim that since Cruz is Hispanic race can’t be used as argument, let me again emphasis Ted Cruz agrees with the positions of the right and the far right.

NBC News just did a story on their nightly newscast on the Cruz announcement. They mentioned the concerns of his foreign birth but said he was a natural born citizen because his mother is American. I don’t want to have the political war of comparing similar scandals on the opposite side to justifying and excusing the same transgressions on your side, but considering all of the rancor and bile from the far right trying to discredit the citizenship of Obama, I would have expected some pushback over a candidate that has verified on numerous occasions he was born in Canada.
