I would dare say the seeds of what happened this past month and a half were planted in mid May, I believe. Mitt Romney and his wife were being interviewed on CBS This Morning. It was a a standard, morning talk show interview that was pretty light on questions. At one point, Ann Romney said that it was Mitt's time to become President. At the time there were some comments on her wording but it was put away like a lot of comments made by the Romneys; tossed off as being jitters or an off the cuff remark that really was an inarticulate way of expressing some other meaning.

Throughout his campaign, from the early days of Iowa when we got the infamous Corporations are People speech to the latest word blunder, people, and by people I mean conservative political operatives and Fox News, have been giving both Ann and Mitt Romney passes on when they have said questionable things. One gaffe after another have been said by them and the spin has been that we didn't understand them correctly, they meant to say something else and the evil, liberal press is harping on something that wasn't really said. In the meantime, when the President says something inarticulately, such as the infamous You Didn't Build That statement, the right wing hammer comes down to pound the confusion into anyone willing to listen, even when independent sources refute their analysis. How many times does it have to be explained that the President didn't remove the work component from welfare? When you make a national ad over a lie, and you are proud of it, that takes some brass ones!

We have just had Mitt Romney wade into an international crisis without taking the time to take a breath and learn the facts before speaking, then he defended is statement when it was proven he was, at the very least, not informed enough to make the comments he did. A few days ago, after a damaging video was released, you had Mitt Romney stand up to a crowd of reporters and say that he couldn't fully comment on the video because 'we' didn't know what the context was because we didn't have the question, even though in the video and the transcript in the video shows a person asking the question before Romney answers.

This is a situation where Romney lies for the sake of lying and the only explanation I can think of from why he is acting the way he is goes back to the CBS answer Ann Romney gave. Mitt Romney isn't acting like a person seeking office. In his mind he doesn't have to ask for our vote. He's like a prince of Europe. He is heir to the Presidency and he's just waiting for 'his time' to come. He can say or do whatever he wants because in the end it doesn't matter; he is destined to be President. It is a hindsight proposition, but to think he could be in a room of wealthy donors and say that he can dismiss close to half of the voters is the hight of arrogance.

I would urge people who might have issue with the analysis of the tape by people not in the pocket of the GOP or the right wing media to take a good look and listen to what is being said in the video. The answer Romney gives isn't about strategy, it isn't about the age old political assessment of each side has it's base and the war the hearts and minds of those 5-10% in the middle. Mitt Romney calls people who get government assistance lazy. He calls people who don't pay taxes bums. He says, just as similarly did in an interview on CNN, that he doesn't think about the poor.

I'm sorry but a person who believes they are destined to be President or that it is their turn to be President, that is too much arrogance for me.
