Alright, so do you want an example of why are critical thinking is so messed up in America? I just saw a clip from a The View episode that aired few months earlier. They first talked about young girls and the clothes they picked out, wondering if some choices could be too risqué for young girls. They kind of ended that section with yes, girls are going to do the trends but if you guide them and not force them into making the right choices they will do the right thing. This moved into the production of a new version of Romeo and Juliet. They were a bit upset that the young actress who would play Juliet, a 14 year old, would have a suggestive nude scene. Obviously there would be a body double used but it was interesting to hear the disgust and distrust they had about the decision.

Now, where I got so angry I had to turn off the TV was when they kept saying what a bad influence this would be for young girls. The possible nudity of a 14 year old in Romeo and Juliet was something they felt girls all over America would try and emulate. We're talking Romeo and Juliet. Did they forget how the story ends? They aren't worried 14 year old girls might commit suicide for the boy they loved? They weren't concerned that real 14 year old girls, who are sexually active, take off their clothes to have sex? Their whole thinking reminded of the health care debate where you had people holding up signs, and not realizing the irony, saying Keep the Government's hands off my Medicare.

I know a few days later the director issued a statement that they were cutting out the scene in question, but the ending obviously will be the same. So when the film comes out, if we follow their thinking, we will have a lot of 14 year old girls who will be saved from nudity but will be committing suicide.
