Another low blow for Rush Limbaugh -

On his Thursday show, Rush Limbaugh tore into what he called President Obama's base.

Limbaugh said that the president was attempting to placate his base during his deficit reduction speech, and he used a panoply of epithets to describe the base.

"His base is made up of people even more vile than he is," he said. "You've got...a lot of it is just walking human debris on the Democrat base side." He noted that many on the left have been unhappy with Obama.

"That bunch of people, those savages that make up the Obama base, are fit to be tied," he said. “He had to get them back, and the one way to do it was to go out and savage us. That's what they love. That's what they get off on. That's their orgasm. 'Cause these people can't find willing mates."

Reading the words are one thing. Hearing the words made me sick. What I find amazing is a majority of people will hear the words said my Limbaugh and have no connected idea why many people might find them offensive. Let me be perfectly, crystal clear what happened; Rush Limbaugh called Obama's base jungle monkeys, porch monkeys and yes he called them the n-word.

If confronted he would deny it. Just by me bringing this up I can hear some people saying I'm reading too much into what he's saying. They may not like him but they would argue I'm being too sensitive about seeing racism in what he said. Oh really?

The thing is I get why people would believe this. We have been watering down history for years. We don't want to look at our past with clear eyes. We want to be like old movies when the woman would come on the screen and she was shot in soft lights and Vaseline on the lens to give her a glow. We want to keep thinking racism is part of the past because we don't see police using dogs and water hoses to prevent people from voting.

This segment was from two minutes out of a three hour show that is broadcast five days a week. That's a lot of vile sludge being pumped into the air, but those who would be outraged want to ignore the dangerous statements made by Limbaugh and his ilk. Most of us would like to believe people are more evolved, more educated into listening to that stuff. Well that's not the case, and millions of people hear that stuff every day.

Just in case the dots haven't been connected, when he mentions savages he's talking about black people. Don't let people try to tell you he meant anything different. Remember when Reagan talked about welfare queens? He wasn't conjuring images about the woman I knew from the rich part of San Diego who would return books on a rotating basis, who was getting food stamps and was drinking all day and going to the spa to get her hair done. He wasn't talking about the same woman who would spend $100s of dollars when she went to the local watering hole. He was bringing up the image of the fat black woman with three kids from three different babies daddies who sat at home all day eating Twinkies, sipping Thunderbird and waiting for her welfare check while “honest people” went out and worked double shifts to put food on the table. Where I live now, substitute the fat black woman for the fat Hispanic woman.
