I have such a problem dealing with corporate entities. It seems no one takes responsibility or will deal with something from the human level. They think about the ‘whole view’ which translates, in most part, into what’s in it best for them and not the individual.

It has been over four weeks since I have been waiting for some money to come in to me. It’s my money and should have been liquidated and given to me a while ago. Two weeks ago I called up and was told it was being worked on. Mind you, all that needed to be done, from their information, is to verify I was laid off, send the information off to the other company and the money should have come to me. How that initial process could take two weeks I don’t know but since I called two weeks ago and still I have received no check and from the information from the website the account is still open. When I called two weeks ago I even tried to narrow down a time, which they said would be a week.

Later on today I will give them a call and I’m sure they’ll come up with another excuse. I’ve got big bills (rent, car payment) coming up and the money will take care of it, but the big corporate entity doesn’t care. They have their procedures to run, their formulas to calculate, even though from my silly outsider point of view it should take a few days to process the information I gave to them.

That’s why I’ve been under so much stress the past week. Only because I got paid for a website job to I have some money right now, but I’m going to have to close out one of my bank accounts to cover a payment needed by the end of next week, then I have one week before the big bills are due.

This is the reality of the economy not mentioned a lot on the news. The talking heads are all about the big picture and talking about the little guy in abstracts. I know my electric bill is going to be through the roof this month because of the 100+ heat days we’ve had almost all this month and me being at home all day. Right now I have a fan blowing hot air at me just before 8am. The air conditioner gives just enough cool air to cool me, but it doesn’t cool the room for any length of time. I have to use the fan and air conditioner as some makeshift convection cooler to get any sort of lasting cool down in the room.

In any case my days have been spent filling out resumes online trying to get a job in my profession. I’m checking with people I know about possible freelance jobs to work at. Yesterday, while driving around, I saw help wanted signs for an electronics store and for Taco Bell. I brought the applications home because I may have to get a job for paying bills. It’s not what I want to do but I may have to go that route.

You get to a point where you’re mad and scared. It seems every turn taken just slaps you in the face then laughs at you. There are only so many times when you can turn the other cheek. You just want to have a break, something that works out well so you can breathe a little bit.
