I’m sure someone must have thought about this, but if Bruce Wayne’s parents had never been killed, would he have turned out like Mitt Romney? I know, it sounds a little crazy but follow me down the rabbit hole and see if it doesn't make a little sense (and maybe a little scary).

Bruce really cared about his parents so much that when they were killed he donned a mask and fought crime, reliving the death of his parents he couldn’t stop. Mitt Romney saw his father run for President of the United States, and by all accounts was a contender for the nomination until he came back from Vietnam and said he was being brainwashed by the government. That killed his political career. His mother embarked on a nomination for Senate but because we was a woman she wasn’t seriously considered. It could be said Romney, like Bruce Wayne, is working hard to get elected because he is trying to avenge the political death of his parents. Batman has been known to use some dark tactics to hunt down criminals. Look at what Romney did to his Republican opponents during the primaries.

If Bruce Wayne’s parents had lived, he probably would have gone to a few exclusive schools, definitely would have traveled abroad and he would have settled down and had children. If we take into account his persona as Batman, Bruce Wayne without the violent death of his parents may have been a competitive business person. He may have wanted to make his own way in the world but would be constantly shadowed by the accomplishments of his father. If Bruce Wayne went into politics, would he be a champion of the people or would he be in it to prove himself better than his father? Mitt Romney went to exclusive schools, went abroad and became a successful business person with Bain Capital. (BTW: It was Bane that broke Batman’s back and the Bain association his hurting Romney)

Like the Brice Wayne/Batman of the comics, Mitt Romney has used a lot of options to hide the full measure of his wealth. Do you think a good accountant couldn’t pour through the Wayne tax returns and not notice the expenditures for things like Batmobile parts? There would have to be a lot of offshore accounts set up to funnel the money, much like Mitt Romney has. The Bruce Wayne personality is one of an affable person who is a bit of a playboy; serious enough to keep his money, maybe pressing forward with some personal goals, but not a person someone would take too seriously. As Batman, he is cunning, ruthless, driven, and is prone to extracting and keeping secrets until he can use them for his advantage. Mitt Romney is gaffe prone, saying things that makes him seem out of touch to most people, yet he remains a viable candidate in the eyes of his party, which is confirmed by the relative closeness of the race so far. This would seem to suggest either Romney is skilled in ways we haven’t fully realized or he has set up an organization that is able to ferret out and contain any missteps and stay focused on the goal of winning the White House.

Listen up Grant Morrison, this could be an interesting Elsewhere story.
