There was a list disclosed early last week of renewed and canceled shows from all the networks. In hindsight, not too many shocks. From ABC, it was kind of a given with the promotion it had received Revenge would return. Missing and GCB were doomed because of controversy. I must say Once Upon a Time getting renewed surprised me. It was a bubble show for me and I haven't watched it in a few weeks. I keep telling myself I'll check it out again but never have yet. The big surprise for me was Scandal. It got renewed and it had to be on the strength of the last episode of the season. It was still a soap opera of an episode but it concentrated on the campaign to elect the President. There were still some way too convenient happenings for my taste but the political angle was intriguing. Oh, and the whiny girl made like Jar Jar in Episode 3, seen very little and less whiny. Let's hope things can be corrected in the new season.

From CBS, Unforgettable, though I liked it, wasn't a ratings winner. Same with A Gifted Man. They had great hooks but didn't know what to do with them. Also, it was more with A Gifted Man than with Unforgettable, but the characters were almost so perfect as to be unbelievable. It made sense they were canceled. What surprised me more was what got picked up. More Two and a Half Men, more 2 Broke Girls, more The Good Wife. Why? Well, of course good ratings, which surprises me.

Fox had no surprises since it already announced House would have a final season, as well as Fringe, and Terra Nova was canceled months ago. Alcatraz became a monster/criminal of the week and the JJ Abrams all is kind of odd formula is getting old fast. That's why Fringe is out of gas and Alcatraz didn't offer anything different.

NBC was a bloodbath of shows that shouldn't have been on the air. I'm a little surprised more of the shows weren't canceled. Fun fact is that Chelsea Handler's show was canceled and a frequent panelist on her E! Show, Whitney Cummings (yes, it seems that is her real name) got her two shows (2 Broke Girls and Whitney) on different networks renewed and is getting a talk show on E! You can't make that stuff up. I didn't like Grimm when it first aired, but it is starting to grow on me.

The CW renewed 90210. As Stan Lee would say, 'Nuff said. Makes no sense to me but ratings talk.
