Sasha Grey reads Dog Breath to a bunch of first and second graders at a Compton, California elementary school and parents go crazy. The compounding mystery of this story is why the school lied about her being there.

To recap quickly, Sasha Grey, former porn star, read a story to some elementary kids as part of the Reading Across America program. All seemed to go well until parents found out she was a former porn star. Cue in the outraged parents, wondering how the school could allow a porn star to read to their kids.

OK, so let's step back a bit. These were first and second graders she was reading to. We're talking from 6 to 9 years old, if we look at the extremes in age. I'm not sure how many of the kids knew of her porn star past. I keep referring to her past profession as past because she has stated she is out of that business. She hasn't made an adult film in two years and seems to be trying to make it in mainstream films. I could see the reluctance of parents if she were still making hardcore films but she isn't.

I'm sure the image in most parent's head when they heard a former porn star read to their kids was of an overly made up strumpet dressed in a skintight dress and hooker heels. Guys, this wasn't dress up for the club day for kids it was story time. I'm sure if a fireman had read to the kids they wouldn't be dressed up in uniform. Looking at what she wore she looks like someone's kid sister or a college student reading to the kids.

If anyone is to blame for this thing blowing up was the school. When parents first found out about the reading, they were told by the school she wasn't there. This was a rather stupid move in the age of social media, since there were pictures posted of her reading at the event and she tweeted about what a wonderful time she had reading to the kids. Their second ploy was to say on her resume it only listed her mainstream projects, specifically Entourage.

Did the school officials just fall down on the job? I'm sure when little Johnny and Susie went home and told their parents they had someone read to the m by the name of Sash Grey, if the parents weren't sure who she was they looked her up on Google. If they knew who she was, well, I'm not going to get into that but the point is with a class of maybe 20 students I'm sure, as it turned out to be, someone knew Sasha Grey and her background. I would assume the school would be made of like minded people (though their actions beg to question that assumption) and someone, upon hearing the name Sasha Grey, would either know who she was or would have looked her up on Google. Here's the reason why the school story is just crap. She was on Entourage, which anyone who knows about the show knows it's on HBO, which means it's a lot looser than network TV. While I doubt they thought they were getting Emmanuelle Chriqui or Constance Zimmer, a curious person who didn't know Sasha Grey would have looked her up. Who did she play in the show? Why, she played Sasha Grey, porn star! She played herself on the show. For the school officials to now say they only knew her from the resume that said she was on Entourage and not know she played herself borders on stupid.

The parents shouldn't be mad at Sasha Grey for reading to their kids. That's all she did, read to the kids. It's not like she was a coach and showered with them. If she did that, she probably would have had a parade. The people to blame is the school, for lying twice to the press and the parents about the situation.
